Sterre is a passionate yogi who has been teaching weekly classes since 2010. She offers meditation, Hatha- and Vinyassayoga classes. She is still fascinated by the profound and positive effects of these ancient methods on both physical-, mental- and even other levels. She jokes sometimes by saying that “If everybody would do yoga, I would have only half the amount of clients in psychotherapy!”
She herself discovered the healing power of yoga through a sports injury and some stressful challenges abroad in 2007. Yoga practice has been part of her life ever since.
Consciously working with the body felt like coming home because of Sterre’s background in dance. Yet yoga revealed to bring so much more; Peace of mind, a certain lightness, purpose and a stronger connection to (her) nature. She explored various yoga styles, completed the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta teacher training (200-hours) in France and started teaching at Yoga Kamala in Amsterdam. She deepened her teaching skills and understanding of yogic philosophy during the well-respected teacher training of Svaha Yoga Amsterdam (500-hours). For the last eight years Sterre has been teaching at her local studio, Yogaseads at Scheveningen beach. In 2018 Sterre went on a pelgrimage to India to explore its many sacred and significant sites. From high up in the Himalayas to the jungles and beaches in the South… Sterre soaked up the historical and cultural information of yoga at the Indian subcontinent, where it all began.
Her classes offer a holistic yoga-blend in which the spiritual element does not compromise the physical challenge. Sterre supports her students with clear instructions, hands-on adjustments and music (‘Nada Yoga’, the yoga of sound). Check the Yogaseads schedule to find out when you can join her next class.
